When I asked Ashton to meet up with me, it was on a whim. I really didn’t know WHAT I wanted to shoot, or really where. What I DID know was that it was supposed to be the last warm day in weeks to come. Many of us will remember the recent cold snap we just experienced. I then watched a Taylor Swift video, and something sparked my interest in the sense that all of her videos are always simple. Nothing too flashy, not over done, but are straight to the point. I decided that’s what I wanted. I didn’t want to walk in with a big concept or an image in my head, I wanted to be put on the spot with just the energy to shoot and see where it took me. I am trying to go back, to refine what I love, to focus on the aspects of my camera I love. I love depth of field, I love nice crisp lines, I love nature and the way sun will break through the trees.
Between shooting with boots filled with snow, and snow up to my waist I managed to find what I was after. I was after inspiration. I was after that moment when I look at my display and I squirm in excitement from what I see. Needless to say, I was really quite happy with the results. Simple and beautiful. I couldn’t have asked for better.
Poor Ashton froze.
