While down in Louisiana for a workshop I had the pleasure of taking photos of a fellow photographer, Jayme and her husband Lucas. We didn’t quite know where we wanted to take photographs, so we just jumped into the car and left for an adventure. We casually drove down back roads looking for the perfect spot, Jayme being a photographer as well, I was quite confident that the spot would just ‘jump’ out. Well, no word of a lie this spot did. It was rows upon rows of beautiful trees just beginning to blossom, we had a crystal clear night so the setting sun and beams of light would just cut through the branches. It was such a stunning spot. It stood out from all the other pastures around us. The only problem was that it was a fenced in area, and well, Louisiana is a conceal and carry state – so needless to say that trespassing was to an issue. But! It didn’t stop the photos from happening!

One thing I can say, is that Jayme and Lucus are made for each other, the way they can finish each other’s sentences, they have so many cute little inside jokes, and they act like newly weds – even having been married for a few years now. Its a pure and utter joy to photograph people in love, especially when they aren’t afraid to show it. Thank you Jayme, for giving me the honour of photographing you both!

Lyle and Nikki’s TTD session started at 6am. We jumped in our taxi and headed out to some beautiful waterfalls (for all of you who keep asking, no it’s not Dunn River Falls!!!). For photographers who want to find locations – I highly suggest doing some googling before you get to your destination! Try to find your dream spots before you even land, it makes the excitement and anticipation that much better!

I have been wanting to shoot waterfalls for as long as I can remember, sadly Alberta has falls, but they’re rather large…and I wouldn’t suggest swimming in them any time of the year. Despite mosquitos and the fear of cold water, Nikki and Lyle jumped in and did whatever we asked of them, including walking ontop of the falls’ rocks to get to certain locations – they were troopers.

There is no denying it, the photos prove the pure chemistry between these two. I loved this session, being able to capture Jamaica’s beautiful landscapes. Trash the dress sessions don’t always have to be in the ocean and on the sand!

brytny | edmonton wedding photographer | three nails workshop

One of the most difficult parts of being an artist is the constant need and desire to create, imagine and build. I recently traveled to Shreveport Louisiana to learn from a photography company who has some of the most beautiful work I have ever stumbled across. This workshop sparked something in my creative mind, something which I truly don’t think I could explain, and it was an experience that I could not have put a price tag on.

To be able to walk out to a soaked field of dew, foggy horizons, and a model who literally radiates and take photos of this is pure bliss to me. I can honestly say all I had to do was push a button and frame a photo. It felt like Brytny was literally dancing to a song you couldn’t hear. It felt like I had rose thousands of feet to the heavens and stumbled across an angel, with paper wings.

I may sound sappy, even half crazy – but inspirational experiences, like this are like food for my soul. It has been so hard to cull images down to my favourites – but I hope you truly enjoy what I picked as my favourites. This is only the first of a few mini sessions I have built.

lyle+nikki | jamaica wedding photographers |

I still remember the first time I met Lyle and Nikki for their consultation, both were smiling ear to ear, sitting as close as the chairs would allow them, and full on in love. Lyle left a lasting impression on me, because I believe he is the first groom to ever tell me he loved having his photo taken – where as Nikki, not as excited.

Jordan and I traveled down to Montego Bay Jamaica to capture their big day. It turned out to be a beautiful day, despite a few rain clouds and a few drops from the sky.

I could not have loved this wedding more, with the orchids in Nikki’s hair, the flowing dress and Lyle’s unmistakable smile every time he saw her…it all worked out perfectly. Their wedding was at the Sunset Beach, where they walked down the sandy aisle to one another. We photographed their first look in the gardens before heading down to the beach to catch some pre and post ceremony formal photos.

It was an awesome day, filled with so many laughs and good memories. Thank you again for having us be apart of your big day!
